The Kenyan Conversations

“We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake, not by mechanical aid, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn.” Henry David Thoreau  (American Essayist, Poet and Philosopher, 1817-1862)

I realise that you were all in expectation of this week’s Kenyan Conversations. However, we did not receive any entries that qualified. I know it is not because there are no wonderful writers out there. Neither is it because the Kenyan voices have been silenced. So I, along with you, trust that there will be entries to this week’s conversations based on Picture 19 and Picture 20.

Although only the winners will receive cash prizes and books from the Storymoja collection, all members of the Storymoja Community who have contributed to the blog by submitting stories will stand a chance to be chosen in a draw to receive day passes to the Storymoja Hay Festival. This will be our thank you for your support and participation in the Writer’s blog over the past 12 months. To register for the draw, send us an email with your name and the title of at least one of your submissions that was published on the Writers’ Blog. Send this to juliet@storymojaafrica.co.ke.

As we await your entries to this week’s Storymoja / Generation Kenya Picture Prompt Kenyan Conversations, please have a look at the Storymoja Hay Festival Program Highlights. Note that you can buy tickets by Mpesa or Zap at Rachel’s Bargain Corner.

About Storymoja Africa

Knowledge is the most powerful engine for economic growth worldwide. To accelerate development in our beloved country, we have to nurture a reading culture that goes beyond academics and politics. Growing Kenya ’s reading culture is Storymoja’s mission as it feeds our business), our personal call as writers, and our patriotic duty. Storymoja is a venture recently formed by a collective of five writers who are committed to publishing contemporary East African writing of world-class standard. We source widely to identify good local writers, help them edit their submissions to exacting standards, and develop eye-catching book-covers.
