Job Opportunities at Storymoja

1. Brand Manager

Storymoja is an ethical and fast-growing company that primarily publishes books for children. Storymoja is probably best known for its annual international festival and the Start-a-Library initiative. Our vision is to ‘get a book in every hand.’

Overall Purpose of the Position: To launch an innovative Storymoja brand in the market and steer it to profitability. Key elements of the job description include:

  1. Work closely with our team to develop and successfully execute the marketing strategy, which will include a detailed plan for implementation with clear positioning, specific targets, budgets, timelines for delivery and measures of success.
  2. Design relevant communication, including web/social media content. Brief and supervise development of marketing materials.  Proactively disseminate information about the brand.
  3. Maintain good media contacts (mainstream and social media) and continuously engage with journalists, photographers, bloggers and other media stakeholders to keep the brand top of mind.
  4. Assist in designing, organising and executing different high-quality events for schools and the corporate sector.
  5. Develop and deepen relationships with our clients by meeting or exceeding their expectations so that they are hungry to continue partnering and spending on our brands.
  6. Capture information about current clients, customers and other stakeholders in order to deepen and widen the network of potential buyers and keep current buyers onside. Ensure there is communication that continuously engages audiences to enrol them into the Storymoja vision with a view to turning them into effective brand ambassadors.
  7. Maintain an archive of communication and marketing material about the brand, update it regularly and utilise it to feed future marketing strategies.
  8. Actively engage with various industry stakeholders, and keep abreast of developments in the greater reading and publishing sector, locally and internationally.
  9. Regularly review and monitor tasks and targets with the department head at monthly meetings to ensure that all agreed deliverables are on track. Proactively sound an alert if they are not.

Experience: We would prefer to interview those with at least 2 years of brand management, sales or advertising experience.

Other desirable attributes: Strong written and oral communication skills necessary. A persuasive tongue, steely determination, attention to detail and event management experience would offer you a distinct advantage.

2.  Promotions Manager

Storymoja seeks an experienced promotions manager to support the sales team in marketing our books in schools, events and in the retail sector. Key elements of the job include:

  1. Developing innovative, sales-oriented promotional ideas
  2. Writing creative briefs and supervising development of sales support materials
  3. Effectively executing the promotions to ensure they meet agreed targets
  4. Monitoring and evaluating results of promotions
  5. Designing , supervising and conducting research evaluations of the same as necessary
  6. Developing excellent relationships with our authors, influencers, customers and clients
  7. Maintaining an updated contacts database
  8. Leveraging our other services to generate books sales
  9. Driving synergy through team work
  10. Building and consolidating Storymoja brand values.

Experience: We would prefer to interview those with at least 3 years sales or advertising experience.

Other desirable attributes: Strong written and oral communication skills necessary. A persuasive tongue, steely determination, and attention to detail would offer you a distinct advantage. Online sales experience and ease with social media would be a huge plus.
