8 Libraries in 4 Days! 22nd to 26th June 2015

Start A Library has partnered with Varkey Foundation and Gems Cambridge International School to start 22 libraries across the country, 8 of which are in Nairobi.

Part of our team has been stationed at the GEMS Cambridge International School, Langata-Karen Campus processing the 22000 books to go to the 22 Libraries.

On Friday, Dawn Makena, the Storymoja Festival Producer, who is a trained library practitioner in one of her lives, guided teacher-student teams through training on how to maintain libraries and utilize story books.

This now ushers in the next stage which is the actual delivery of the books to the schools chosen as beneficiaries. Each school receives a 1000 book starter pack as well as a container library! How exciting for Start a Library, Storymoja and the Storymoja Festival teams to be part of this project and to help get ‘A Book in every Hand!’
