I Will Not Love Yet by Julius Muriungi

Though surrounded by juicy hearts,

I will not love yet.

Though maidens bloom and flower.

I won’t let any sweep me off my feet.

My heart won’t weep.

I will keep my vow.

I will not love yet.

I won’t slip and sleep in the world of love.

Though your kitenge wraps you like gold,

I am still cold.

Even if your style is gracious,

The glacier covering my heart won’t melt.

I will not love yet.

Don’t hate me.

We are not mates.

Though your blush brushes my heart clean,

I won’t lean on your love zone.

For in you will let me.

I will not love yet.

I will stand and watch.

As beauty oozes,

As temptation streams flow,

As beauty unfolds like a rose,

I will not have my dose.

I will close my eyes and thank God the creator.
