Marry me by Anthony Gashagua

Marry me, Tabitha, Marry a poet

Sonnets for breakfast

Versa fable for foreplay

Only you understand

The personas in a poem can also love.

You don’t know me yet

But remember when you said

The most beautiful place is inside a poet?

I looked inside me and met your face.

Marry me Tabitha

In my poetry and poverty,

In July, come with Gemini

Our cabin will be symbolic

Bamboo and hollow truth.

Take an exhibitionist to your parents

Remind them of their days of rebellion.

I’ll write you romantic verses

Put your still frame in a red dress

Standing inside the lonely railway station  museum

Rain all around you, everything apart from your dress

Will be in neutral colors.

Tabitha, we will harvest narrative epics

Raise them as our children.

At the end, they’ll bare grandchildren.

Tabitha, escape from this poem

Marry me.
