The Dirge of Life

Written by Joseph Mambo

Water is as deep
As its bottom is
Flowing in its lap
Its strength is the softness
The hardest of rocks it’ll clip
Yet its the gentlest

A river will dip
As far as its water flows

To be ugly is to be beautiful
Everybody will notice
A longing is not full
If in having it culminates
In a dream to be in lull
Is better than in a wish to arise

The prison of love
Is like a tether to a beast

To know in your wake
That found is happiness
Is to reach the end of a useless hike
When rest is as peace
To understand your freedom break
How stale to say bye lass

Farewell hope
I’m glad you never were.
