Sometimes I wish Kenya would explode
Then maybe with the dirt that is thrown up in the blast
The land will become fertile again, and the people shall be fed
Sometimes I wish Kenya would explode
Then maybe with the blood that is spilled in the chaos
The dry ground will be wet again and the crops shall sprout
Sometimes I wish Kenya would explode
Then maybe with the concussions that are sustained
The tired, poor masses shall close their eyes and finally find a good night’s rest
Sometimes I wish Kenya would explode
Then maybe in the cradle-like crater that is formed
Kenya shall finally find a place of rebirth

Beautifully plotted…beautiful progression. The imagery created is supremely vivid. A top poem and glad the poet was amongst the top guys last year.
